Dogwood Chapter Information

The  Dogwood Chapter is an affiliate chapter of the Smocking Arts Guild of America (SAGA) serving the Charlotte, NC area. Our purpose is to preserve and foster the art of smocking and related needlework for future generations, through education, communication, and quality artistry/workmanship. Chapter dues are $20/year; in addition SAGA membership (required) is $35/year.

Meetings
Members and our guests meet the first Thursday of each month @ 7PM.
Our monthly meetings are a combination of chapter business and needlework education.
Meetings are held as the office of Keller Williams Realty, 3430 Toringdon Way, Suite 200. The building is locked at all times. To gain entrance in order to attend the meeting, call or text (704) 550-1570 upon arrival.

Community Service
The Wee Care Gown project is an on-going community service project for our guild. The Wee Care Gowns are donated to the NICUs of hospitals as well as to Be Not Afraid ministry, for use as burial gowns for families that have experienced a loss at birth.
Each Dogwood guild member volunteers to make least two gown per year. Gowns are collected all year long and members are encouraged to make several. Fabric and patterns are  available through the guild, however, if preferred, members can provide their own fabric.

Skills Development
Each year our Dogwood Chapter offers hands-on education workshops and seminars where, nationally and internationally known needlework instructors come to Charlotte and offer a multi-day program – these are exciting and challenging way to build skills as well as knowledge.
